In Trouble Now!

As my boyz age they enter into the normal stages of development but I am never ready. Just the other day they were allowed to pick out the calendar they wanted. My youngest, Lennon, picked out a "Sponge Bob" one but my oldest, Zak?....He picked the "Sports Illustrated Swim Suit" one! Yes, he is more than just interested in the opposite sex. Ordinarily I wouldn't worry at all...but at age 11?...I remember my own past and I don't remember girls being anything but there until I was 13. Yeah, yeah, I know it's only 2 years difference but I am still trying to get this boy settled in middle school and girls seem to be an added distraction. I also have taken notice of the type of girls he's going to encounter this day and time and that too is cause for worry. I started raising kids later in life than most my peers so the kids of today are actually the bonehead grandkids of the bonehead kids I went to school with (this is where the study of brain cell decay and genetics comes in handy!)...Now you see why I worry! Oh well! you do what you can do and hope and pray for the best to come out of it. All I can say is that when my youngest becomes interested girls of today will have their hands full! He is a complicated individual and so much like his Dad that my worries will include him being able to find someone compatible. I have always had problems finding someone that connects with me on enough points to believe that there is a chance for a decent relationship. Only one time did I ever find that one special one and I am convinced that she was my soul mate but as usual there were stumbling blocks and I let her go and have regretted it. So I wish better judgment for both my boyz and hope that I can be there to help guide them through it. Parenthood is not for the faint of heart!...always remember..."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!"...Love to all, Jeff

And This is Your Brain on Reality!

I have never considered reality to be enjoyable entertainment. Wasn't the purpose of stage and screen to provide a chance for man (or woman, to be politically correct!) to escape the bonds of reality? No matter how burdensome life was, just breaking to see a movie or a TV program could provide a brief period of deliverance. Many times my response to the actions of characters in a TV show was, "See? Nobody would really do something that stupid!" Then, along came the reality show and my response oft times is "See, You just knew they were going to do something that stupid!" Reality shows have made stars of people that you once wanted to place on death row. Those shows don't afford me any time for rest and relaxation. They only serve to deteriorate my health by raising my blood pressure as I jump to my feet screaming "IDIOTS! THEY'RE ALL IDIOTS!" Shows like "Growing Up Gotti, Hogan Knows Best, Who Wants to be a Hilton, and The Osbournes" only serve to strengthen the need for my proposed "Euthanasia for stupidity" law. Just let me go insane, embark on a killing spree and watch me head off into TV land! Maybe then they'll do a reality show about me and my prison life. Perhaps they could call it "Lethal injection for Jeffrey." Flip on the TV, get my sidewalk star ready, and give me time to reload! Love to all...Jeff

So Predictable!

Often times I am thrilled at the fact that some things in this world are so predictable. My children's behavior in certain situations can be accurately foreseen thereby saving me undue embarrassment and stress.(Although most times the masters of manipulation will still use and abuse you!...lol). Frustrating as it is, the American public's reactions are extremely expected and I assume much to the business world's delight. By far however, the most disheartening prognosis is the fibromyalgia that constantly keeps me in such pain. If only it's predictability could lead to it's avoidance!
Doctors are unaware at present as to what actually causes "fibro" but they do know some of the things that trigger episodes of it. One such trigger is the weather, or more accurately in my case...humidity. I can look at a weather forecast prior to bedtime and predict what time I will awaken in pain. My levels of pain and energy can change in an hours time as the humidity changes. The only beneficial outcome of paying attention to weather forecasts hour by hour details is the ability to plan housework around the fibro. My children are slowly learning how forecasts can aid them in knowing my overall demeanor which should help them if only they used working brain cells!...lol..My boyz react like a pack of wolves often which causes many battles. A tortured old man clutches his throat in protection as he wades in to the valley of pain warring with two snarling animals who spew forth curses....well...you get the picture! Ah! If only the old man were blessed with the same degree of accuracy in predicting major world events! At least then he could be famous and in pain instead of enduring it in such anonymity! Amazing how situations in life can oft times be so predictable...and so inescapable!...Love to all...Jeff

Getting Back to What Is Right

Amazing to me is the great percentage of misfortune that can amass around a person vs. the small amount of good. This Christmas season has been one awash with tribulation. My wonderful aunt Cecile had cancer surgery and had a leg removed. Pain has continued to worsen for me with each passing day. My sweet little boy Lennon came down with strep throat and I shared that with him. Luckily my fine oldest son Zak didn't catch it! I dropped my cell phone (almost brand new....see previous posts) into a glass of grape koolaid. I am currently working on getting it to work again! We had as merry a Christmas as humanly possible under the circumstances. I have had to try to find the time to work on renewing my faith in what I believe. The greatest difficuty is considering myself Christian but having so many differences with the Christian teachings of the Christian churches and their interpretation of the Bible. I have many qualms about the Bible in its present day form. I won't go into all that here but suffice it to say that I truly believe that a Christian has to take the Bible and sift through what has been left that actually is a message of God and overlook a lot of mans twisting to fit the times. I also do not believe that the Bible is the ONLY word of God. Over the years my opinion has changed mainly due to my children. The Bible teaches that as Christians we are obligated to follow the rules of Christian conduct or suffer consequences of our misbehavior. My children are both ADHD and I have watched them struggle with trying to do good when there is a definite hormonal imbalance that prevents them from being able to do that until their medicines help restore the balance. Then they recall their misbehavior and consider themselves bad children. My question is...What about all the children that have come before the advent of modern medicine and were as afflicted as mine are? The world has considered their behavior as bad and I am sure that no one ever told them that perhaps it wasn't their fault at times. I have to continually tell myself that our Maker will sort that out in the long run but some Christians of today would look at these children and have no understanding of what is involved. Well let me tell you this...my children are raised as Christians and yet they are told the truth about the entire situation! Just the other day my oldest Zak came to me and asked if people who followed other religions were all going to hell. From a biblical Christian concept they are...In my understanding?...No they are not all going to. I do believe that God walked among us in the form of Jesus Christ but I also believe that the same teachings of Christ are found in many other religions and God has walked among us more than once and has introduced his word in a way that others would understand. All the major world religions have been contaminated by man and it takes a great understanding and patience to see God's message. One of the truest things that appear in the Bible is that few will actually understand the true message of God. Well, what started out to be something simple has now turned into my lengthy opinion so for now I will close. Thanks for the blog...It really makes me feel better and stronger just to talk about this. One thing I will never do intentionally is hold against my children what is not their fault and no one can convince me that MY maker will either.

The Curse

Many times I have encountered explanations for mysteries in my life. Perhaps I should say "possible explanations". It's always nice to have something that will very easily explain troubling situations.
Such is the case with the recent "blanket curse" possibility put forth by this French psychic that saw fit to email me with a warning and for a fee would protect me from the 35 year old curse. She told me that the reason for all my bad luck, especially my physical state, was the result of the transgression by one of my close family members against someone (she says I was 13 years old) who retaliated by putting a curse on my entire family. She further stated that the person who had cursed us was most likely dead and that I could lift it with her help and of course $29.95. Oh if only that were true!....Heh! Heh! Heh! Wouldn't that be a hoot? The sad truth in all this is that there are people who would actually believe this and she's making a living off the stupid. Many times in my life I have paused in wonder at my percentages of good fortune vs bad. It seemed that the law of averages at times was being manipulated overwhelmingly in favor of bad.
Here's the scoop on why I am not cursed and in reality have been blessed. How could anyone in their right mind not know the difference in man's work and that of God? All my misfortune has actually been God trying to get the attention of a stubborn man by allowing me to have it my way to the point of misery. The solution to my "curse" certainly doesn't cost $29.95....It's always free!....Love to all, Jeff
